During the month of September, Camino is partnering with Wycliffe Bible Translators to declare that the Bible is relevant, vital and powerful to transforms lives and hearts around the world!
#WhyBible is a movement of individuals and organizations of all backgrounds sharing stories of the Bible’s impact on individuals, communities and the world.
Wycliffe and Camino share deep historical roots. In 1917, William Cameron Townsend went to Guatemala with The Central American Mission, now Camino Global. He served among the indigenous Cakchiquel, a people without a Bible in their own language. He founded the Summer Institute of Linguistics to train people to do the vital work of Bible translation. In 1942, Townsend founded Wycliffe Bible Translators. To this day, missionaries and staff of both Wycliffe and Camino refer to Townsend as "Uncle Cam."
Serving the church, Camino Global will journey with Spanish speakers everywhere to transform communities, equip believers, and reach the world.
William and Minnie McConnel arrived in Costa Rica in 1891. By the turn of the twentieth century, the work of the Central American Mission had expanded to include Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua.
Founded in 1890, the Central American Mission was known as CAM International for 37 years, from 1975 to 2012. CAM became Camino Global in 2012. Today the scope of outreach is truly global. Camino Global exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ, serving among and with Spanish speakers globally.
Discover the story of Dr. C.I. Scofield and his burden for Central America that led to the founding of the Central American Mission. On November 14, 2015 Camino Global celebrates 125 years of eternal impact.

The increasingly global impact of ministry among Spanish speakers began as a regional focus in Central America more than a century ago.
